I use Tomy AFX track and also have some earlier Aurora AFX Q lock track peices with adaptors to join with the later Tomy track. The reason for using the Tomy track is the huge range of radii available, from 3" hairpins up to 15" curves and 18" non-standard curves as well. The standard radii and straights are shown below. So it is possible to build a 10 lane track (or 12 lane oval!) but the bends are limited. I usualy design 4 or 6 lane tracks.




I have built cardboard bridges and banking supports, using double corrugated cardboard where strength is required and thiner card when it has to curve. For bridge spans the sides have the corrugations vertically whereas the deck has the corrugations side to side, all glued with copious ammounts of pva wood glue.
